You will be working within the Building Services Operating Unit (OU) based in West Malling, where we are responsible for creating healthy workplaces, comfortable homes, and efficient facilities that improve people’s lives. In this role, you will support and assist the OU Environmental Sustainability Manager in delivering the Skanska UK and OU sustainability strategies, objectives, and targets.


We are currently looking for a Environmental Advisor who will support local authority facilities management contract. The role will support teams in their delivery of environmental legislative and contractual requirements, in line with Skanska’s and the clients’ standards, managing environmental risk and maximising opportunity and assisting with H&S compliance. 


As the Environmental Advisor, you will:

  • Support delivery of Skanska UK Sustainability Strategy.
  • Manage compliance across facilities management contracts including inspections, audits, performance reporting and investigation and close out of incidents.
  • Provide guidance, advice and steer on environmental policy and legislation, SUK/EF/OU environmental and carbon strategy, and customer requirements.
  • Assist projects on the delivery of the internal Carbon Management System (CMS).
  • Support operational teams and subcontractors in identifying environmental risks and in embedding environmental management controls into projects and activities.
  • Develop, maintain, implement and coordinate the review of all Environmental Management System (EMS) documentation at project/contract level.


We are looking for:

  • Degree level and/or relevant (+3 years) experience in appropriate environmental discipline.
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation and practical knowledge of waste management
  • Experience in the Building Services sector, including facilities management and/or construction sector is desriable.
  • Experience of working closely with teams, contractors, clients, and other key stakeholders 
  • Knowledge and experience of collating, monitoring, and reporting environmental data
